About me
Liedeke Taen is born in Nijmegen (NL) in 1996. After high school, she did an orientation year at Bernard Lievegoed University in Driebergen. This is how she discovered that she wanted to create things and use her creativity as power. She graduated in 2019 at ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem with an installation of ceramic work and screen prints.
Unnoticed objects, places, and situations hold her fascination. The things we take for granted, places we pass by or don’t even grasp because we consider them ugly and insignificant. Liedeke Taen finds meanings and beauty in our everyday. This sense of wonder; not in nature or the divine, but in de mundane and in little things around us, is what she is looking for. Liedeke believes that it’s a way of looking we can teach ourselves. Attachment to the everyday and, at first sight, meaningless objects around us can make life more bearable and valuable.
